Today I've been out spreading Christmas cheer to the people of Rochdale - who to be honest seemed a little bit unmoved. We were playing carols in the streets in order to raise some funds for the band. In truth though - I think that people were more keen to stay in their houses - like anyone with any common sense would.
Now I've talked about feeling the cold before this year - but I didn't talk about the cold like it has been this year. For years, our weather has been getting worse and worse - and it seems now that our winters are going to be pretty bloody evil.
Today, knowing I was off carolling - I put on:
Thick Jeans
2 T-shirts
1 Hoodie
1 Coat over hoodie
2 pairs of socks
Fingerless gloves
Within seconds of stepping out of the car and assembling my instrument however, I was really feeling it. Probably because the temperature outside this evening was roughly minus 2!
That's just not bloody right is it? Minus 2 is inside your freezer temperature - not outside temperature. I'm sure its been getting colder, icier and more and more extreme year on year. Lets hope it doesn't get worse in this way for much longer - or we're all going to take up hibernation.
It's icy and thats dangerous. That means more accidents and misery and traffic and stuff. Today its been freezing fog all bloody day - which means more accidents and the like.
I just want to be able to get from A-B without me or other people crashing into stuff and for it to not be colder than a fridge outside! - is that too much to ask?
