Rant number 126
I recently acquired an iPhone. It took me a while to get one, but now I've got one I love it. It does so many things, has great flexibility. Hell - it even talks to me.
There is one niggle though which really gets on my nerves. The autocorrect function.
I get it that its just trying to help me make sense - but it doesn't half the time. What it does is quite the opposite.
The idea of the thing is sound. If for instance I was to write teh instead of the, it will change it for me. This is ok.
The thing is though that our language is diverse and ever changing - which is where things fall down.
It changes words round sometimes with almost reckless abandon. I had to type the word changes 3 times for instance - because it would prefer to put changed!
And the worst thing of all is that you don't always notice the changes have happened until the text has gone. We've all seen the hilarious and yet distressing results of erroneous changes.
Why doesn't it beep or something or just underline the misspelling (which it just tried to change to miss pleasing - which is rather worrying) instead of being sneaky about it.
It rarely hits op my nerds!
Rant over.
